VOTE YOUR CONCERN ON THE SALARY DISCLOSURE BILL – HB6273

Call for action brought to you in partnership with Southington Chamber of Commerce and CBIA.

Please consider taking action regarding HB 6273 – AAC Disclosure of Salary Ranges on Public and Internal Job Postings, as it would add onerous requirements and penalties on businesses related to salary disclosures, including:

  • Requires that employers provide salary ranges for all internal and external job postings, including a list of all benefits (health, retirement, time off, etc.)
  • Requires that employers annually provide salary and benefit range information to all employees
  • Penalizes employers if the salary range provided was deemed “not in good faith”
  • Subjects any employer failing to post salary ranges or benefits to penalties for any individuals they fail to hire or promote
  • Failure to meet any of these requirements could result in financial penalties up to $10,000 per violation

HB 6273  eliminates an employer’s ability to have conversations with applicants about appropriate salary ranges for their skill sets. It will discourage applicants from applying to positions and employers from obtaining the talent they may not have realized they needed, resulting in lost opportunities for everyone.
