About the Guest Speaker:
Dr. Camelia Lawrence is a nationally respected breast surgeon, healthcare executive, educator, community leader, and passionate advocate for health equity. As Director of Breast Surgery for Hartford HealthCare’s Central Region, she leads with innovation, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to transforming the patient experience.
But her impact extends far beyond the operating room. From breaking barriers in medicine and leadership to mentoring the next generation and serving communities across Connecticut and beyond, Dr. Lawrence has built a career rooted in purpose, courage, service, and authenticity.
She also serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UConn School of Medicine, where she helps educate and inspire medical students and surgical residents who will become the next generation of physicians.
And among her many roles, the one she treasures most is being Mom to her two children, Ashley and Nathan.
Today, Dr. Lawrence brings together her personal journey and professional calling to remind us that caring for our health, especially our breast health is not simply a medical issue, it is an act of empowerment.
