Kinsmen Brewing Company opened its doors on March 11th, 2017 – before we were even finished building the taproom – to supply the demand for our finely crafted beers. We had our flagship IPA on tap, 21.3 – and we sold through our stock in the course of the day. From that point forward, it’s been history in the making.
But our story starts way before that…

Our tap room and brewhouse are located in part of the old Clark Brothers Bolt Company – the roots of which were planted before the Civil War. The factory was the basis for the hamlet of Milldale – as most of the townspeople worked for Clark Brothers. By the time the factory closed in 1987, after 133 years in business, the Clark Brothers Bolt Company had earned numerous patents – most notably, for the carriage bolt.
In 2016, we began work to rehabilitate the factory and create our future – our piece of the pie in the local craft beer scene in central Connecticut. The massive undertaking took more than a year to get where we are today, and we’re still building and expanding to give you the best craft beer experience around. In 2018, we have already opened our own on-site kitchen with our partners Sauced, and plans are underway to expand our ability to better serve you by creating an event space for weddings, banquets, fundraisers, and beyond.

Our missions is simple – by blending old world traditions with modern brewing techniques, and putting it all in a warm and welcoming setting, we want to provide our guests with the opportunity to not only drink premium, craft beer, but to make memories and friends. Sure,
we want you to come down and fill your growlers or swing by to pick up some cans of your favorite Kinsmen beer, but we urge you to stick around – play a board game, have some laughs, and feel like your in your home away from home. Afterall, we here at Kinsmen are family and friends – and would be happy to bring you into the fold.
So, as long as you continue to support us – we promise to continue to provide you with excellent beer, and the opportunity to create memories – one sip at a time. But, even more – we will continue to give back to the community. Not only are we happy to host fundraisers and events that support the world around us, but we will continue to support you anyway we can.
